Mark Cox is bucket list enthusiast, long distance runner, climber, mountaineer and all round adventurer who has spent the last 15 years outdoors exploring the wilds of the UK. He has over six years experience advising and fitting people with clothing and equipment as a store manager for a leading outdoor equipment store. In this guest post, Mark reviews the Sea to Summit dry bags that he introduced me to over a year ago and have been a game-changer in kit packing for me ever since.
It’s not often I get over-enthusiastic over drybags for hiking but I do love Sea to Summit products and I couldn’t recommend this enough as it’s made my life a lot easier in terms of packing.
Like many people into their outdoor adventures I’ve got a bit of a selection of dry bags and compression sacks but these are my go-to product, being a dry bag and compression sack in one. It’s a clever design with eVent® as a panel on the end of the compression sack which means it maintains it’s waterproofing while still allowing the compressed air out of the sack.
I use these compression sacks for both my tent and my sleeping bag and clothes and they compress both down to about half their normal packed size. As you can imagine this is a real space saver.
The fabric itself is 70d nylon and pretty tough, maybe a little heavier than something like the ultrasil compression dry bag.
Using this product I can easily compress my sleeping bag down from around 38cm length down to 26cm or less, which is really good going.
What’s more the product comes with a lifetime guarantee which is great, and I can understand why as it’s one of the few dry bags I’ve not ended up putting a hole in yet!
I’d give this product a solid 9/10, I’d give it more but it could use some more colour options (more than one!)
