Who am i?

Bio

I grew up in South Africa, where being outdoors through much of the year is second nature.

After moving to the UK and adapting slowly to the change of weather, I came to the realisation that being outside is integral to mental and physical health. However, making the most of it requires certain skills, mindsets and equipment, which I have now been gathering for the best part of 9 years.

“There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.”

I was mostly home educated as a child but was drawn to teaching others and I followed a pretty standard progression through college and university and completed a degree in Primary Education. However, I became disillusioned with the educational system as a whole and the way they suppress the innate curiousity and love of learning that all children are born with.

My purpose is to teach and inspire people to gain the skills, abilities and confidence to be happy, healthy and live purposefully in a sustainable and human way.

A new way of doing things

I believe that all of us, children and adults alike, learn best through practical, purposeful and relevant experiences that inspire and motivate and the more we distance ourselves from the natural environment the more damage we do to ourselves and others.

My Core Values

  • Personal Growth – Striving to be the best person you can be.

  • Integrity – Being the person you say you are.

  • Empathy – ‘Seeking first to understand before being understood.‘ (Stephen Covey)

  • Sustainability – Leaving the world a better place.
