Forest School CPD Days
Practical skills. Honest conversations. Woodland educator community.
As Forest School leaders and outdoor educators, we wear a lot of hats — facilitator, cook, negotiator, fire-lighter, business owner, community-builder.
These CPD days were born out of conversations with practitioners feeling stretched, working in isolation, or just running out of fresh ideas. I wanted to offer something practical and useful — time to upskill, share ideas, and build the kind of peer support we don’t always get day to day.
Each day includes:
A practical morning workshop to build confidence and skills in a focused area
A relaxed afternoon skillshare and networking space — bring a project, try something new, or just have a brew and chat with like-minded leaders.
Whether you come for one or both parts, the day is designed to leave you more resourced, more connected, and more confident in your work
Upcoming CPD Day - Sunday 25th January
Morning Workshop - Outdoor Cooking
A hands-on, fire-based workshop designed to build your confidence cooking outdoors with groups. We’ll explore a range of cooking methods and recipes that work well in shorter Forest School sessions — giving you practical ideas to take straight into your own practice.
You’ll cook (and taste) a variety of group-friendly dishes using:
- Dutch ovens
- Embers and coal beds
- Reflector ovens
- Suspended pots and grills
We’ll also look at:
- Fire and heat management for different cooking techniques
- Choosing the right tools and equipment for your sessions
- Low-fuss, adaptable recipes for children and mixed groups
- How to involve learners safely and meaningfully in the cooking process
All ingredients and equipment provided.
Afternoon gathering - Business Skillshare
A supportive, facilitated session for Forest School leaders and outdoor practitioners who want to explore the business side of their work — and connect with others facing similar challenges.
We’ll cover:
- Pricing your sessions with clarity and confidence
- Talking about the value of your work with families, schools and funders
- Boundaries around time, energy and expectations
- What sustainability can look like — financially and personally
- Space to ask questions, share ideas and reflect on your business journey
This is a space to talk honestly, share strategies, and think practically about how to run a values-led outdoor practice that also supports your livelihood.
